The best advice given is from all those who have said don't try to do it yourself. Wasps are bad enough but hornets are nastier, more aggressive and will work collectively to attack you.

At the moment the queen is laying eggs to build up the colony, those that are already around are the first hatchlings who will look after the young and keep building and expanding the nest. Get the professionals in now and have the thing removed before you really have a problem. this is no time for worrying about killing things - they have to go as they are potentially very dangerous so near to people and especially children.

hire a professional pest killer
Get them killed off immediately. Try your local authority who may be cheaper of even free than going direct onto a pest control firm but DO IT NOW before they get out of hand.
Use a wasp spray and wear protective clothing
There is a product that is used to freeze chewing gum so that it can be scraped off of a rug. Use this product to cool down the hornets prior to moving. wear long sleeves, gloves, a scarf over your head and goggles.

Ortho makes a good wasp killing insecticide. There are more wasps in the world than 200x the number of humans. A small nest will not be missed by the insect world.
Let me send my ex-wife over there. She'll just look at `em, and they'll die!
get rentokill out it is safer for you
You can buy a wasp and hornet spray designed to spray about 20 feet so you don't have to get close to them... The best time for the attack is after the sun goes down...The insects will return to the nest and settle down.So a few short blasts will get all of them.
Well as I see it you have two choices. Either buy a Hornet killing spray (They spray about 10'-15') or have someone come & relocate the nest which is probably going to be costly.
Hire a professional don't move it yourself for your own sake.
Definitely ring the local council and get a professional in!
I don't think you really have any choice - but you could ask if they could move it I suppose - but then you will have the problem somewhere else and they might come and get you still!
