Why do people put those big metal stars on the fronts of their houses?

because its their house and they can put whatever they want on it. Why do people paint house garish color or keep 25 junk cars in back yard they like it or need the parts.
Its supposed to look country like . You go to Lancaster PA and they have been on houses for 100 yrs.
cuz its the latest fad. a dumb fad that we display the giant stars on our houses to signify america, BUT THEY ARE ALL MADE IN CHINA!!
They have absolutely no signifigance. They are like the most hideously ugly things. I live in NH and like 3 out of 5 houses has them. YUK!

i dont know...i actually havent seen them, so they cant be too widespread yet
If you mean the ones retained by what would appear to be a large bolt coming through the wall with a large nut on it then its simply to stop the house from falling down. It's no different than using washers and a nut and bolt to secure metal plates together.
