Little gem magnolia- I am removing a dead plum in a poor drainage area, will a magnolia have tha same problem?
Question:the area sometimes has standing water in the plum bowl. i know plums are sensitive. maybe a magnolia will do better if i raise the grade slightly in the same place.

Yes, some trees do better, especially flowering ones but I am surprized about the fruit tree they usually need lots of water as well. Check the water content. Take it to your local water company, they will test it. I also recommend the mimosa, it is absolutely beautiful, we have 2. They have small trunks, go up and come out like a big umbrella it has small leaves on a long stem and pink whispy flowers. Very lovely.
magnolias i think dont like to be sogged out either.
but from what ive seen weeping willows grow real big and thrive in these boggy areas, their roots just suck all that water up and then beg for more
