My pool is green!?
Question:What can I do to get all of that green out of my pool without dumping all of the water??
We went away for one night and came back home and found the filter unplugged and the pool is completely green!
Is there anything that I can do other than dumping out all of the water and starting all over again??!

I gave applebetty a thumbs down because we don't know how many gallons are in the pool and 2.5 gallons of bleach may not be enough to do the job. Also, if you are using Baquacil or Bromine products then adding in bleach will make the problem MUCH worse. Never add chemicals until you know what it is you need or you can compound the problem greatly and turn it into an expensive clean up.
You never need to drain your pool, so don't worry about that.
The first thing you need to do is to get a sample of water down to your local pool store and have them test for the following:
Total chlorine
Free chlorine
Combined chlorine
pH
Alkalinity
Hardness
Cyanuric acid
Total dissolved solids
Metals
Phosphates
Bring the results back without purchasing anything from the pool store except for a phosphate remover (which you will need) and post them here or email them to me at robandliz1992@yahoo.com Please include the gallon size of the pool, filtration system type, and any chemicals you've used in the last week or have on hand now (ingredients are best but name brands work too).
I'll take you step by step through cleaning up your pool and then put you on a tailored maintenance schedule to keep your pool pristine and healthy.
You have to get some chlorine (about 2.5 gallons). Pour it in, run the filter (and leave it running...), brush the sides, and if the filter pressure goes up you have to clean it and keep running and cleaning the filter until the water returns to normal. This could take up to 2 days. Good Luck!
In addition to above answer check the pH while chlorinating. Do not let pH get above 8.0. You have a severe algae problem. You can also increase filtration during this time.
