How do I permanently get rid of weeds in soil?

Question:How do I permanently get rid of weeds in soil?
I have put Glyphosphate weedkiller down about three times, but it does not work.

This is an area of soil where I grow vegetables so the weeds are a nuisance.

Glyphosphate breaks down on contact with the soil so don't worry, I am not poisioning myself, nor do I spray it on any vegetables either.

any help much appreciated.

thanks.

Answers:
Well - until you can stop weeds seeding and birds crapping you have little chance of stopping them completely. That's about the long and the short of it.

Weeds seed themselves - and birds eat seeds and out they come

You will need a selective residual weedkiller, meca crop, 24d and dicamba are effective. Don't know about the implications for growing veggies there though. Have to google it mate. Glyphosate will kill the weeds on application but wont stop more coming.
There is no permanent way to get rid of weeks. It is an ongoing thing if you have a garden. The guy who invents a permanent weed killer will make a fortune.
You can pour as much gloop on as you like, seed's will blow in on the air, or drop down from the bottoms of birds (eww) endlessley. the only way forward is accepting them, and weeding once a week summer, once a month winter. the chemicals will be a good start, but to keep on top of it without chemicals is much better all round.
you cant stop weeds from growing, weed killers normally last about eight to twelve weeks,
You can't. You have to weed yourself I am afraid, especially between vegetables. Try hoeing between rows regularly on a fine day , leave them on top of the soil for the sun to dry them out (they die). Hand weed between vegetables. Those that are persistent or too deep I am afraid you will have to dig the roots out to get rid of them. Unfortunately as with anything that grows they self seed and that is why you will never get rid of them completely. Regular weeding does keep it under control though.
You will never stop weeds. Sorry. Dont waste money on weedkillers on veggie patches. Hoe them out or hand weed to keep on top of them.
Remember that glyphosate is effective only on actively growing plants.
If you are mixing the concentrated type, follow directions explicitly.
Apply on a rain free and hottest day possible.
No matter what you do some weed will always come along and ruin it. There are some weedkillers which kill everything but you then have to leave the ground empty for 6 months to a year afterward. I bet some wretched weed would still come along though. Weeds are like that. That's why they're called weeds.
Weeds are just wild plants that grow in the wrong (for us) place. If you could permanantly get rid of them, you'd become a very wealthy person!
This is just a suggestion but till the soil before planting. This helps rip the weeds out of the ground. After planting vegetables, place newspaper around plants. The paper is biodegradable and will help to smother the weeds out, and will help to keep moisture in ground. Be sure, if possible, to put soil or mulch on top to prevent them blowing around. Doesn't have to be much soil. This works because I do it each spring in my small garden. Hope it will help with your problem!
Glyphosate becomes inactive when in contact with the soil.
The key to keeping the weeds down is to stop seed germination. To do this the weeds have to be pulled or killed when they are very young.
Glysophate does work ! But you must use it the right way, make sure the weeds have plenty of top growth i.e. green leaves so let them grow a little then spray, Glysophate needs the green leaves to be effective, the less green the less effective. This weed killer is designed to be absorbed through the leaves and into roots, use it this way and it does work, I have used it on Dandelions, Nettles, and Dock which are all deep rooted weeds and it does work. Use a spray bottle and make sure you wet all the green growth.
You will never get rid of all the weeds ,you will just have to keep weeding .
