Why are private utility companies allowed to put boxed on your property for free?
Question:Like the cable company they put those junction boxes for the area, phone power etc.
Answers:
It's called an "easement," and it usually predates your purchase of the land. It's attached to the land itself, and no matter who originally granted it, subsequent owners can't undo it.
Where exactly would you expect them to put those boxes?
In some states your property line doesn't extend all the way to the street the way you might assume it does, and in other states it is technically yours (at least for tax purposes) but you can't do anything that would hinder the utility company's access to the portion near the road. That is what is called an "easement".
You would need a long extension cord and cable cord to reach to the street to ask this question you know..because the wires have to run inside your house...
