What can I do to keep rabbits from eating my tomatoes and other vegetables that I have planted around my house
Question:I been finding holes in my tomatoes and seen rabbits in my yard a lot lately.
Answers:
marigolds work. Also ... i think it's dried deer blood. Ask u'r local garden place. My folks use it around their garden along w/ the marigolds & it really works. They also have some pwdr stuff I know at the garden store but I know the dried blood is jst that.
you have to put up a fence.
Get a dog.
Normally Rabbits are not damaging to the tomatos their shoul rats or parrots, just chk it and u can cove the plants with proper nets..
aaahhh lucky you!!
you have a garden and rabbits!
that's nice!
I guess you can put a fence around your garden so the rabbits can't penetrate
don't hurt the rabbits
I don't know if this works, but I've HEARD that planting marigolds around the perimeter of the garden will keep them out.
Go to your local nursery and buy fencing for your precious vegetables! darn rascly rabbits!
Go to your nearest salon or barber and get a bag of human hair clippings. Spread evenly around your veggies, they won't bother them again smelling of humans.
go to Walmart in the garden center and get some netting.it comes in a big roll and just cut what you need.it's not expensive.I have it over my tomato plants, bell pepper plants, orange tree and fig tree.fasten at the bottom and nothing can get to your garden.birds and squirrels were getting ours but not anymore.good luck.
shoot them! Just kidding, if you don't want to kill them, get a guy to pee around your garden. Most predators or garden sneaks don't like to smell other males in the area. This is the best "organic" way to get rid of garden critters. Has to be male urine though, they smell the testosterone.
To discourage rabbits, try sprinkling plants with baby powder (or talcum powder) - they don't like the talc smell. I don't know if the magazine is still available, but I used to receive Organic Gardening magazine, and this advice was in an issue and it worked in my garden. Need to reapply after rain, etc. (Holes could also be caused by bugs or slugs - Slugs don't like crushed eggshells around the base of plants and surrounding areas - the shell edges cut them. Bugs don't like a plant sprayed with a mild mixture of soap (like dish washing liquid) and water. I guess it makes plants taste bad. Also, dog hair from a local grooming establishment or from your own dog, if you have one, spread around and in garden keeps out most pests.
Anyway, I've used all these tips in my past gardens with great results. Hope they help you out.
