House Alarms?
Question:Can anybody tell me what is wrong with my house alarm?
When we went to bed last night we put the alarm on as usual and it beeped (as it does) as we were going up the stairs. When we got in bed it just started going off. My partner went downstairs and reset the alarm and put the number in again only for it to start going off again when we got upstairs.
The light on "Zone 4" is lit up when this happens. Is there something wrong with it? Would we need to get the engineer out to it?
Answers:
The light on zone 4 indicates that this is the zone that triggered the alarm.
Firstly, did you part set the alarm, or did you possibly by mistake do a complete set.
A part set is a partial system set so you can go to bed and certain areas are still protected
A full set is as it suggests.
If you did a part set, it may be a case as to where the system needs an overhaul, to identify which of several problems it could be. It could have lost its part setting 'sets'
It should also be serviced regularly by a competent person.
Don't worry about it being a power issue. if the mains fails, the power light on the keypad would be out, and with modern systems, if the battery backup fails, the outside bell box will constantly sound off until power is restored and your code is entered to silence it
Is it connected to the mains or run on batteries? Also your house alarm should be serviced and tested yearly to check that all connections are ok. Get someone to look at it.
you may have left a door or window open or you have a faulty motion sensor
Has this just started happening, how old is it.
It sounds like a problem with zone 4 sensor, either that or it could be something as stupid as a spiders web, which i have seen before.
