About com has an excellent article on how to do this. Here is the link:

Round up may do the trick. Once you remove the branches and the stump, I do not recommend burning it. I have heard breathing the fumes causes serious respiratory problems.
Bayer Advanced Brush Killer worked well at our house. I got the concentrate and diluted it a bit less than reccommended, since my poison ivy was dense in a small area. Haven't seen it since.
We had a landscaper give us some stuff that looks like seeds. It worked but it kept coming back. The first response I agree DO NOT BURN IT! Cause the poision will drift through the air and someone else might highly contagious by it and really mess them up! I have heard several old folk tales but I can't tell you if they work or not. Many products that is used to kill poision ivy will kill EVERYTHING so since they are on your bushes you are going to have to manually up them up by the roots be careful cause even a dead vine you can still get a rash from it. My advice to you is when working with poision ivy is to take SERVERAL showers I cleared out my entire back yard took me nearly 9 hours total yard work but because a shower every 2 hours to keep from getting a rash it took me about 18 hours but that's because I was working in heavy poision ivy didn't want to stand a chance of getting a BAD rash. Call up a local landscaper ask if anyone could come remove it for you cause if you spray anything like round up or herbicides you are going to end up killing some plants you want to keep.
