I should think they could probably withstand ordinary tap water.
If you don't want to try that though, boiled water is the same as distilled water. Just boil some water, let it cool and use that.
i had the same question, but it does work.
they are really amazing lol i had one before...
i read somewhere that you shouldnt fool the trap with something to make it close as it uses up energy or chemicals or something and can lead to it dying
you can get distilled water at almost any supermarket like wal-mart. but bottled water should work we had some in biology that used bottled water.
I would think that any water, as long as it's not too high in minerals, would be fine. Did you check the the beverage aisle of your supermarket for distilled water?
I had these as a child. My father, a biologist, used ordinary tap water. They lived a long life, so I suspect that's a fine way to go. Best of luck!
bottle water is a no no! Bottled water tends to be an aklaine, where as you need to keep the soil/compost slightly acidic. Rainwater is best, or boiled tap water. Every so often give them a very weak feed from an Ericacius plant feed
I have kept Venus Fly Traps for many years (only dying on me when I go away and someone does not water them enough) and they have survived occasional tap water, but cooled boiled water is OK.
Some experts say you should cut the flower off before it produces seeds as this will weaken the plant, but I think this is to stop you growing new plants. I have let the flowers seed, the plant dies but a new one comes along a few weeks later - but must keep what looks like an empty pot wet.
Venua fly traps are house plants or green house, they are usually put inpots with spagnum moss which is already moist. You can use bottled spring water and make sure the moss does not dry up.
Distilled water is available at most car accessory shops, it is used for topping up car batteries, and is very easy to get.
