Help me understand something. Why do people buy those shower heads that are promoted as a way to save water?
Question:I would think that people could save water by just not turning it on so hard! The regular faucets will do the same thing and do not cost additional money. Just goes to prove what I often say, There is way too much money out there!
Answers:
The water saving shower heads are specifically designed to give a good spray with less water. If you just take a regular shower head and reduce the flow, the shower fizzles out and does not give the same type of spray.
you done?
As you can see those promoted shower heads give water higher pressure than that of the ordinary ones. If you just turn it a little it will squirt out just a little bit of water and it will just lengthen the time spent in bathing. with pressurized water, the friction between the skin and the water has better cleaning capacity than the ordinary water flow... :)
That would work fine if you don't want any water pressure in the shower. The heads reduce the flow but don't reduce the pressure (theoretically). They work best where there is good water pressure to begin with, like on city water.
Besides giving good pressure (not available by turning down the taps) they are now code in every State I know of. 2-1/2 gallons per minute will still drain the average water heater pretty quickly.
