How can you keep your tomatoes from sunburning?

Question:My tomatoes keep getting sunburned, is there anything I can do?

Answers:
I used a suncloth, which provides some light to go thru, but blocks most of it, and hung it over my tomatoes, squash, cukes, and peppers. They grow better than ever.

I would apply at least a 50 SPF sunscreen, or wear a top when sunbathing.
Generally about all you can do is suspend a open weave cheesecloth above them to lessen but not cutoff the sunlight.
If it's only the fruit that is sunburning try picking it earlier. Tomates don't need to be on the vine to fully ripen nor in direct sunlight.
Barring that you can use a high sunblocker such as BullFrog with an SPF of above 45-75 aand apply it 2-3 times a day.
This will ruin the fruit but it might get it a good tan. So it will be inedible but look MARVELOUS!
Seriously try the cheesecloth if you aren't covering huge amounts of garden.
Put cheesecloth over the plant. Make a little "tent" for the plants to be inside
try buying or building a little green house or in a little shadaer area
Tomatoes are one of those plants like watermelon that need lots of sun. I haven't ever heard of a sunburned tomato, but I guess so.... Maybe I just never noticed. I grow some every year in the sunniest spot in my yard.
