Where can I get a durable, easy to clean dish rack??
Question:I don't have a dishwasher in my house, so all the dishes in the house are washed by hand. They are usually placed in a dish rack to dry, but all the ones I've had lately either break or rust very easily. I've had plastic, metal, and plastic-covered metal racks and they've all failed me. I haven't gotten a wooden one because most of the designs are too small. Any advice on which brand/type of dish rack to get. Thanks!!
Answers:
go to walmart.you'll get your monies worth there.
hint---do not ever buy a wooden one - the water rots the wood and they fall apart
do not buy steel...they rust and it gets on your dishes etc.
just rely on plastic...and when the dishes are dry...make sure you take a dish rag and dry the rack completely. This will make it last longer.
Good luck.
Go to the HGTV website. Type in dish racks. See if you can built your own dish rack that will suit you. If your hubby is good with wood work or is a handy person perhaps he can come up with a good solution.
Do you life near a Target store? They often have a great selection of dish racks. You maybe have to go with a higher priced brand such as Rubbermaid. In my house I've tried them all, and ended up having to use two types, side by side. If you overload the racks day after day, they get too stressed. So you may need two. I have on rubber coated Rubbermaid, and one metal on that folds down. They work well together.
I would save your receipts, and if they break or rust, get your money back.
I got a stainless steel one and it's wonderful and easy to clean. It's got a drip tray/the basket for silverware.. It's sleek and shiny. I got it from Bed Bath and Beyond and I've had it for 4 yrs... No problems.. Just wash it after you put the dishes away and dry it...
