In the UK, is the First floor at the bottom, or the next floor up?

Question:

Answers:
In the UK the ground floor is the level you enter a building and the floor above is the first floor. So if you're American our ground floor is your first floor and our first floor is your second floor.

It's the next one up! Basement = Below Ground, Ground Floor = Ground Level, First Floor = next up from Ground Level, etc., etc.
it goes like this

ground
first
second

basement is only in some shops and doesnt apply to most houses / buildings
The floor at the bottom is the ground floor, the first floor is the one above it. Have a good day.
