Besides not having fruit, what's the best way to avoid getting fruit flies? There seems to be a bunch in my apt

Question:Every once in a while, I'd see 1 or 2 fruit flies in my apt. However the past couple of days there seems to be more now. I don't even really have fruit, so I don't know what to do.

Answers:
Do you have potted plants? If so, look carefully at the soil they're planted in. I have found that sometimes the flies will lay their eggs in moist plant soil. If you find more flies in or around your plants, either treat them with something to kill the flies,or get rid of the plants.
