Home Building Cost question?
Question:I want to build a 5,000sf home. I already have a construction company that will build the structure of the home for me. But I want to know home much everything else will cost. My questions are how much would a full basement cost, how much drywall, moulding, and everything else a house takes would cost (outdoor siding and roofing) also. Also electrical, pluming, etc. would cost. I'm sorry if this is kind of confusing, but I want to get an estimate on how much everything else would cost, including having people install it all.. And remember it is a 5,000st home. Thanks to any answers that come my way!

Ok, this is a big question. It depends where you are building but I can give you the information I have.
20 years ago I built a house at $58 per square foot. Where I live it is now around $100 per square foot depending on many factors.
This cost is estimated based on labor and material. I think I should tell you also that I do all my own work. This does save me money because I save on overhead and profit that service companies make.

Ok I would need the area you live in before I could answer this question - or even attempt to answer it. This is a question you should ask the construction company you have already. In my area a 5000 ft house would cost in the neighborhood of $100,000 to $250,000. But the housing in my area is cheap. It would also depend on what extras, the finishes you chose, the trim wood, all these would factor in.
It would be best if you asked 3 builders to give you written estimates breaking down the individual costings. Each construction is different and it would be impossible to give a credible estimate.
I would go to the library and check out a book call "R.S Means construction costs." It is updated a few times a year and it is broken into many categories of material costs and typical labor costs. Its an extremely informative book.
