My bottem thread is not catching what do I do?
Question:I had to re-thread my bobbin and my top hread is properly threaded but when I try to have my bottem thread come up by turning the handle and my needle goes down but the bottem thread does not catch. Instead my top thread gets stuck and breaks and nothing is touching the bobbin! Any suggestions?
Answers:
It depends on weather you have a top drop in bobbin, or a bobbin that is inserted into a metal case and then reinserted into the machine.
If it is a top drop in bobbin--- insert the bobbin with the thread coming along the left side of the bobbin slide the thread into the slot in the case (probably closest to you) and then try to rotate your handwheel forward to pick up the thread.
If is is the other kind, take the little case out, slip the bobbin back into the case, slide the thread through the slit at the top of the case and then open the little handle on the other side of the case and insert into the bobbin area. if it doesn't stay in, then you didn't have the handle out when you were inserting. This kind of locks it in place. Maybe you have to rotate the handwheel to put the bobbin case in the right position. Good Luck. If all else fails, read the directions...
be sure your top and bottom threads are threaded properly, if your top is breaking you need to find where it is catching and rethread it away from the obstacle (as directed of course, don't choose your own path) the bobbin may need a little coaxing, be sure to leave enough end sticking out for it to double through if it needs to.
