Does anyone know what the red dot is for on the aerosol can?
Question:So I know you're supposed to point the aerosol in that direction, but why? Is it the correct position, or is there something special about that dot?

All the answers you have received so far are wrong..There is a small plastic tube inside the can, just like on your Windex Bottle. It is curved toward one side of the inside of the can. If you tilt the can when spraying, the liquid inside runs toward that side of the can. Having the spray head pointed at the dot keeps the can tilted in the direction that the tube is angled. This ensures you use all the product in the can

You're supposed to point the nozzle towards the dot because that's the 'correct' place to put it. That's the only reason (I think) behind it.
the red dot does serve a purpose. when you spray the nozzle hole should be aligned with that red dot. This keeps the airway channel clear. If the nozzle should become clogged, remove the button run under warm water and replace the button making sure it's aligned to the red dot.
Its just plastic that is dyed red to indicate to people that this is in fact the front of the can, spray away from ur face. U have to remember that even though it seems rediculous to u and me who know how to use a spray can- not everyone is that bright, so as a precaution, companies make it as easy as possible to let the consumer know how to use products correctly. I'm sure they started doing this after a law suit where someone probably sprayed themselves in the eyes! LOL -Nay
It is merely a reference point. If the hole in the nozzle is lined up with the dot, it is easy to just grab the can, point the dot away from you, and spray. The nozzle will work no matter what direction it is pointed in. Dot or no dot.
