What can be done to prevent a fire at home.?

Question:seen lots of apts and homes catch fire on the news and don't want it to happen to me.

Answers:
best idea is to go to your local fire department they should have books that they use in school programs. there are some very easy to do things. put a fire resistant can of baking soda on or near the stove to use on grease fires. Check all electric cords for cuts or frays. do not put cords under carpets, Do not over load outlets. Unhook dryer vents and vacuum them out. but most of all teach children to bring matches and lighters to an adult always. Have a fire extingisher in the home know how to use it. Never smoke in the house. Use gas grills that can be turned off over charcol. Candles smell good but never leave unattended or near a child. Wind can blow a curtain into a flame be careful where you set a candle. Have your apt complex do a fire safety seminar( Manditory) with the fire dept. Caution is you best defence
