The neighbours want to help now...?
Question:we have finished the removal of all the plaster in our latest development, it was hard work and we upset most of the neighbours. We threw a big party afterwards and we are all friends again.
we need to start the fresh plastering now.
Its fabulous!! all of the neighbours want to help, but I am concerned that it will end up an unqualified mess. should I apologise and render their desire to help as not necessary?
we dont want to upset them again

I am really pleased the removal stage ended in such good will. Ask them if they have ever plastered before, those who have will know how difficult it is, and presumably would only offer if they could do it. Those that haven't, explain that you have had loads of offers and are really greatful but if they could do (think of something else they could help with), that would be great.
My advice is dont let them help.they may be exacting revenge for the noise you made
tell them thank you but we have it under control!
tell them thanks but you have it covered, and that u will invite them round, when you've finished the work, to toast the new place. and once again thank them for their offer.
Keep in mind that when people have had a drink or two, they tend to offer their services, while when sober they wouldn't
good luck
I would let them help out. I don't think anyone would "try" to do anything they don't know how to do properly. Do you? I think you would all have fun getting a tough job done and become better friends. Good luck in whatever you choose.
That's great that they came to the party! But do you want all those inexperienced people putting up your plaster? If you are just wanting to get it done quick, let them help, but if you want it done right, better to do it yourselves. They may be offering to help because they now, after being invited to the party, feel bad about getting upset with you. Too many hands in this project could end up in a disaster. Good luck and maybe throw another party after you finish!!
