Does putting a penny in the water of cut flowers really help extend their life?

Question:

Answers:
i've also heard that sprite or 7-up works too

I have also heard this but never tried it. Don't know why it would work - maybe the minerals in it.
Yes some but very little the chemicals in the penny give the plants something of the erevelant of calcium to humans but one penny will efect one flower little to none=)
I'VE ACTUALLY NEVER HEARD OF THAT BUT IT WOULDN'T HURT TO TRY IT. I'VE ACTUALLY TRIED PUTTING A LITTLE BIT OF CLOROX OR AN ASPIRIN IN THE WATER. wHAT I ALSO DO IS STICK ICE IN THE WATER AND MAKE SURE THAT THE LEAVES ARENT TOUCHING THE WATER. MY FLOWERS HAVE LASTED QUITE A LONG TIME BY ME DOING THIS. GOOD LUCK.
