UK regs re outside gas meter boxes?

Question:In England are there any regulations concerning compulsory fitting of outside gas meter boxes

Answers:
Not compulsory, however the Companies do like them fitted outside to make easier reading, also most new houses have them actually built into the brickwork, whereas they can be bulky if fitted just onto an external wall

No regs. The gas company can do what they want ref gas meters. if you are lets say a bad payer or they can never get into your house to read meter they mat decide to put meter outside. If you ask them to move it say for a new kitchen or other building work they will move it but it will cost. And no doubt it will be expensive.
Most of us in Scotland don't have that problem as older properties they are inside the house
