Has anyone had any luck growing the upside down tomatoes?

Question:growing tomatoes in the bottom of a hanging bucket

Answers:
This is a very good way to grow tomatoes. They seem to grow slow at first so I would try to start them inside away from frost to get a head start.

I have one that is doing just fine. One advantage is that if the cover is left on the bucket, watering can be infrequent. I soaked mine heavily, then went away for 29 days. When I returned, it was dry, but healthy.

Let the plant get fair sized before putting it in the bucket. My first one was too tender, and a little breeze wiped it out.

I cut a hole about four inches in diameter, slid the plant in, and covered up most of the hole from the inside with scraps of plastic. This was so dirt would not fall out.

I am starting another plant now, and plan to bring it in the house when the weather turns cold.
