Mosquito nets (canopy for beds)?
Question:i'm thinking of buying a mosquito net... first, i'd like to know if you own a mosquito net, what are some advantages and disadvantages about it?
Answers:
Using nets is a viable method, but i'd prefer avoiding mosquitoes my keeping ur surroundings clean, empty water holes, dispose wastes properly. There should be zero possibility for breeding. Well if u cant do dis, use repellants, plug dem on in d evening, close all windows except 4 one. Keep the repellant on throughout the night, close the window after one hour.
I used one for about a month when I was in Kuwait. The only problem I had was if an arm or a leg was against the netting, you were sure to be bitten.
A mosquito net works great, I used one while living in Turkey, and it let me get far more restive sleep. I suppose they're more prevalent in the middle east due to the lack of air conditioners in private homes. Keeping cool means opening windows, doors, etc.
I live in SC now, and still, nothing is more annoying than being a late-night meal for a mosquito. They can make for a miserable morning or even a bad day. I don't use one now, but if mosquito attacks begin, I wouldn't hesitate to use one.
Anyway, the net should be large enough so that your body doesn't rest against the material; mosquitoes can still reach the flesh. Also, be very careful when handling the net, it is very thin and can be damaged by rough handling. Mosquitoes must have radar when it comes to finding a hole in the net. Don't wash them, dust them with a feather duster. Hand-washing, or especially machine-washing will destroy them. If you use one that tucks under the mattress, ensure enough slack so that rolling over close to the fabric doesn't pull it tight and tear it.
good luck
