I live in phx arizona, we live in a fairly new home with a concrete fenced yard.?
Question:There are several small holes all around the yard large enough to put a broom handle in. There is no dirt surrounding the holes..what could be causing these holes? we have monthy pest control inside and out. i am a little concerened about letting my kids play outside.
Answers:
groundhogs??
Call the developer's office, or the seller. Possibly those holes were put in to aerate the yard, or for drainage. I think groundhogs have bigger holes. If you have pesticide in and out haven't you asked them what they think? Harmless, or snakes?
How far down into the dirt does that concrete fence go? It may not go deep enough to prevent some critters from burrowing under. If there's no dirt kicked up around the holes that would tend to rule out moles, etc. How about doing a little detective work? In Phoenix the ground is dry in summer so sprinkle a good thick layer of white powder around the holes and see if tracks appear through them. Also cover an area that, so far has no holes and see what happens there. The holes could be made by some sort of burrowing termits.
If you find out, post your answer, I'm dying to know.
