Japanese beetles?
Question:How long is "Japanese beetle season?" The beetles here are terrible this year!! We have a trap out, and we have to empty the bag at least twice every day. We're just wondering how long this is going to last.

Get rid of the trap! Using Japanese beetle traps are a very interesting thing. You are sure to trap the beetles in them but your also drawing all the Japanese beetles from your neighborhood with the lure inside the trap.
I bet your neighbors really appreciate your traps. The best way to get them out of your yard is to move the traps as far away as possible from the plants your trying to protect.
Or since it's mating season you can just go over to the plants with a jar with a lid and some rubber glove and knock them into the jar, they are kind of stupid right now and won't move much. Put a little dish soap with some warm water in the jar and that will take care of them.
The guy above me nailed it on the head. The bags are the worst thing you can do. Especially if you care about your lawn. Just treat your landscape with sevin. Or for everything else except your roses if you have them use a high pressured hose and knock them off. You can always knock them off one by one into a bucket of soapy water. Otherwise the beetles should wrap up towards the end of the month and id say at the latest. the second week of august.
