yardsale! no easier way, and you make money. also, there are foundations like habitat for humanity, or thrift stores that will accept donations.
Go to Yahoo! Groups and do a search for a FreeCycle group in your area. You post what you have and people will respond if they want to come get them. You set them outside or be home when they come and they'll pick them up. All you need is to respond to emails. It helps the environment and you don't have to round everything up and drop it off somewhere. It is efficient and easy.
I have had garage sales, listed items on craigslist and freecycle, donated to charity, given items to friends and neighbors and lately I've been giving to Operation Homefront which matches what you have to give to military families who need it.
I call the local old stuff removers. costs me about 15 dollars for 2m3.

There are several ways to get rid of your old stuff.
Tried and true: Yard sale. Price them to sell. What doesn't sell, just load up and take to your local goodwill or mission house. Best part of it, you can get a receipt to use as a tax write-off.
Look up your area on Freecycle. You can't sell it, or trade it. But you can offer it for free to anyone who wants to come and get it. And, if anyone there has something you need, you can go get it for free.
Ebay. Still looking to make a profit on bigger ticket items? Try putting them up for sale online.
Easiest way to get rid of old stuff? Throw it in the trash, start a bonfire (pay attention to local fire regulations), or move away and leave it all behind.

I have been diagnosed as an incurable packrat.
Last year I arranged to have a friend stop by with a pick up. I drank a lot beer and it made me brave. I loaded his truck to the brim. He took it to the dump before the beer wore off. I missed the stuff for about a day. Now I coulden't tell you what most of my treasures were.

I give mine to Goodwill or Salvation Army. I have this thought that no matter how I give it or who I give it to it will be to my credit, so I try and do it the easiest and fastest way possible.
