Why do worms crawl out of the cool ground & onto the hot, sizzling asphalt/concrete on hot days?

Question:While walking to my building at work, i've noticed that many worms crawl out of the cool ground or grass and make their way onto the hot pavement. I was curious about why they tend to do this.

Answers:
They dont do it when its hot. The worms crawl out of their tunnels when it rains bc their tunnels fill up with water. They go onto the pavement so they can get out of the water and breathe.

Then it gets how again and they fry, which is proly what you are seeing.
