What do termites look like?

Question:I looked in back of my desk and i saw a big hill and some insects crawling out, i wanted to know of those were termites??

Answers:
The adult reproductives are the members of the termite family which are normally seen when swarming out of the colony in the spring and the fall. They resemble a small ant 1/4 inch long with wings that are twice the lenght of their body. The worker is the only member of the colony which eats wood. They are rarely seen because they are constantly tunneling under the ground or in wood. They are a small white insect with a brownish/yellow head and are also about 1/4 inch long.
Sounds like you might have field ants but you might want to have it checked out by a pest control firm.

they look like ants with long skinny wings - about the length of their body.

Go to Google; type in termites; images; you will get pretty good pictures of them as compared to ants or silverfish;
If they aren*t termites try the same search with silverfish and ants.
