Put on some good music you like to listen to, and start with one room. Declutter/dust, straighten each surface, get the garbage out, vacuum the room. Go onto the next room.
Keep the clutter down by going thru the paperwork (junk mail, etc.) daily. You could even try flylady.net for helpful hints. It's a pretty cool site for housecleaning tips. And to help with the routine. Hope this helps you. Take care.
Start at the ceiling and work to the floor. Put on some upbeat music. Kneepads and gloves can be savers. And remember, when you're quick-cleaning, you're going for the ILLUSION of clean.
Start from the top and go down. Finish with the floors.
I have a hard time getting motivated and I lose intrest in cleaning often, so things never get done. I also hate the idea of cleaning for hours and hours on end. These are some of the things that I find helpful.
1. Inviting someone to come over to your home, can be a great motivator to get things clean. Knowing that someone will be showing up at your home can give you a deadline to get things done. Suddenly you begin to look at your home as a guest might, and the undone tasks stand out waiting to be accomplished. Allow yourself enough time to finish before your guest arrives though.
2. Make a game out of cleaning. Turn the music on and start at the beginning of a song. Make it a goal to get lets say, the floors swept or vaccumed before the song ends. It'll add a quick step to your cleaning routine!!
3. Do 15 Minute cleanups. Allow your self 15 minutes in each room to complete your task. http://housekeeping.about.com/od/15minut...
4. Here's a link for household chore shortcuts. http://housekeeping.about.com/od/timesav...
Well I hope these help you out!!
Have fun! =)
