Where can I find non-chinese made appliances?
Question:My hubby is pro-American on all products we buy. Of course that's practically impossible these days. Everytime I find a toaster or coffeemaker I like he boycotts it b/c it was made in China.he's okay w/ Mexico, he can even stomach France a little, but REFUSES to buy anything from China.
Help a girl out, WHERE can I look for products that were not made in China? This is getting to be a pain. :P

Actually, the joke is on him. Most appliances come with parts or components from China, even if the manufacturer is listed as France, Mexico or even the US. If we were in the EU or Japan, you would know what percentage of the item was manufactured in each country, but there are no such laws in the US. Assembly alone could be listed as the country of origin with component parts coming from almost anywhere in the world. In fact, most of the electronic components assembled in Mexico are products of China.
Buy Korean. They use less components from other countries than any other. Gold Star is one of their brands and the tags all say Made in Korea. Hopefully, their quality has improved on the learning curve more than the lack of quality control I've seen in China made products.
tell him to get over it. even if it's made in america, it doesn't mean all the parts needed to make it are american. what's wrong with products from china anyways? they usually last longer!
