How to get rid of Mold from under house?
Question:I have a home with crawl space underneath, their is mold on the ground? How do I get rid of it and to prevent it from returning? We have had over 10 inches of rain in the last 3 or 4 weeks so I think that is the main cause. I have lived here for over 30 years and have never had this problem before, please any help to rid this problem would be most helpful.

If it is growing , you might kill it with bleach (clorox).
Moisture is usually the cause. Underneath the house should always be dry. You may need more ventilation. I know your home must have a few vents just above the ground. I live in coastal Alabama-we need at least 1 sq.ft'. of
"open" vent per each 150 sq.ft'. of floor space. A 1500 sq.ft' home would then need 10 sq.ft' of open vent. Your vents may be closed or blocked off. Many people close them for the winter, so pipes will not freeze-this is okay, but they must be opened up once the freeze danger is gone. You may have to put a fan in the crawl space opening to help clear this up.
Also make sure your A/C drain does not dump under your house and your clothes dryer should vent outside the house and never under it.
Good Luck.
