What's the best way to eliminate ants in the kitchen?
Question:Help! Ants have invaded my kitchen! Any safe way to irradicate them? Many thanks.
Answers:
Borax will kill ants, silverfish, coachroaches, and is cheap. Borax is the source of boric acid, the main ingredient of Victor's Ant & Roach Killer, and it's cheap. It's toxic to children (5mg) and adults (10-20mg) so it's really best suited to crevice or hidden space applications.
There's also diatomaceous earth, which is a fine, powdery rock, the fossilized remains of algae. It's non-toxic but because it's so fine and sharp (microscopically) it should not be breathed. It works by cutting up the exoskeletons of crawling insects and interfering with their respiration. Works on anything that crawls, is cheap.
Baits are probably best, because even though they are toxic, they kill effectively by allowing ants to bring back the poison to the nest. Interdiction methods (powders, sealing holes) obviously do not do this and ants famously re-route and tunnel effectively. You need to kill them at the source.
Baby powder.
find the spot they are coming in and patch it. then bug bomb your house. if all that still doesnt work, then call exterminator
baking soda...doesn't kill them but they won't cross it, so spread it around the edges of the room.
Clean the kitchen very good with hot water and bleach. Try to find the place where they are getting in from then spray some RAID ant killer there and then seal the hole with foam bought from home depot.
Ant traps work well - they carry the poison back to the nest. You must also check you don't have a spills somewhere like inside a cupboard - they get attracked by the sweet stuff. We also use a Chinneese remedy over the door thresholds - it is a chalk stick - I guess they don't like walking over it.
light the haus
Ants in the kitchen: To prevent ant from returning, place a few pieces of mint gum around point of infestation. They can't stand the mint!
-Ordinary table salt sprinkled around most frequented areas acts as a good deterrent.
- ground cinnamon is a good non toxic ant deterrent.
-an equal mixture of baking soda and sugar sprinkled in the frequented areas will kill the ants.
-borax and sugar mixed in equal parts will kill the ants. *Caution keep away from children and pets
I have always used vinegar. I clean my countertops with vinegar and water mix and use it in a spray bottle to spray inside my cabinets. It seems to work well. No ants!!!
the best way is to CLEAN your kitchen... hide the sweets in the fridge...
spearmint-either in liquid drops or gum

I've heard of this Chinese stuff you put any were, The ants goto it.. pick up some sort of poison and bring it to the nest, it kills them all.. and from what I've heard it works like 95% of the time.. thats a little scary.. but what works works. I cant get rid of my ants because i live next to the wetlands, and they keep coming back no matter what. But I've helped my friend get rid of them.
