Deoderant down the bathroom sink?
Question:my 11 yearold son shredded a block of underarm antipersperant-deoderant into little pieces and tried to wash it down the bathroom sink. now the sink drains really slow. how cani clean out the drain. its not clogged, just slow and i dont want a weird chemical reaction from a drain cleaner!
Answers:
Pour 1 cup of salt and 1 cup vinegar down the drain, along with 3 cups boiling water. Allow to set for an hour. Flush with cold water. Repeat as necessary, but doing this once a month will keep your drains flowing freely.
I dont think that a chemical reaction would really occur from deodorant. Theres not much in there that can cause much harm even if mixed with something else. But funny story...
Use a toilet plunger or take a look under the sink and take the elbow pipe off and clean it off. Chances are that its all laying in that elbow.
go under the sink and open the drain trap, its a pipe in the shape of a u .. unbolt it, pull it off, clean it out, then replace it... Then flush with scolding hot water...
yes boiling water slowly poured in sink should start to melt. should that not work there should be a curve called p-trap that you could get a pipe wrench and take it apart and just clean it out. try boiling water first though.
Pour some boiling water and slowly pour down the sink.It will melt the deodorant and all will flow again.
