Tons of maggots in Trash Can...?
Question:I have a ton of maggots in my trash can and I've already tried straight bleach and it didn't kill them!! What can I do?
Answers:
Insect poison. Spray some, they'll die.
Trash Can or Dumpster? Hot water and bleach and then rinse it out.
Bleach will kill them.
Fill it with water, add 3 cups of bleach, and let it soak.
Try actually washing your trash can. Take it outside & blast it with the hose.
I don't know why beach should kill maggots. Try putting the lid back on after putting another bottle in the fumes should do it. If not add water and drown them.
Boiling water also kills maggots - and hopefully the eggs - but soap and water doesn't. Try boiling water and pouring it in the trash can,
Let the trash can dry out they need a moist environment.
Use a bug spray! Then take the garden hose and lay the trashcan on its side and wash them out. This will drown the ones that may still be alive, I know it is gross but if you don't get them out you will continue to have more and you also need to be rinsing out your trashcan weekly (after it gets dumped) and that will help with some of the problem, but it is summer and unfortunately that happens.
How about spraying it with Bengal. And I would wash it down occaisionally to keep this from happening again.
Well bleach will get the job done and be sure to let it dry in the sun for a while. ( most of the day) but once you do get them dead and out of there here is a suggestion. Try putting moth balls in the bottom of the can before ya put a new bag of trash in it, it keeps maggots out.
Boil some water and pour it on them, that will kill them. Then when you wash the can, spray it with the bleach to disinfect it.Air dry before putting your liner in it.thanks for 2.
Flush them out with water. They won't survive long enough to turn into flies. Then wash your cans with detergent. A toilet brush works great.
Clean it out good and spray it with pam or some other spray for cooking they will slide out when you wash the garbage pail with hot water and soap.,then wipe it dry and spray it with vinegar and water wipe it clean and keep the top on tight, double wrap all the garbage and use a box of baking soda ,put it on top of the garbage in the can and shake it around that helps also ,good luck.
