What is a home remedy for getting rid of web worms?
Question:We have been overrun by web worms with all the wet weather we've been having this summer. I want to try and find an environmentally friendly way to get rid of these pests before they do any more damage to the trees. They're all over the side of my house and my deck and they're making a huge mess. I just want to get rid of them. Any suggestions anyone?? HELP!!!

It is possible to use a torch (on a stick...not a welding tool) and burn them out after. That way you do not have to worry about what you do with them after you get them out of the tree. They do stink when they burn.
Go to Lowes and get some warm control.
The only way to get rid of them without pesticides is to prune the trees or shrubs. Its fairly labor intensive, (if you have a lot) and if they are very high up, may be dangerous, so this may not be on option for you, and you may want to hire a professional. Use sharp pruners, so as not to damage the limbs, and make a 45 degree (approximate) cut behind the webs. Then pull the whole mess out of the tree and destroy it. Try to prune carefully, keeping in mind the overall shape of the tree, if the tree or shrub is large, it shouldn't affect the look of it too much. If you are worried about taking out too many limbs, just prune out the worst of it, a healthy plant can survive minimal infestations. Hope this helps.
