How often should I water my little cactus? And Is it true that it's bad to buy bamboo?
Question:I heard (from my 10 year old), that Pandas are dying because of the over use of bamboo. Sorry for the double question, but they are related somewhat.
Thanks!
Answers:
Let the soil dry out completely between waterings, then water it so that the soil is moist but not muddy; depending on your climate, anywhere from 4-5 days to 2 weeks. As for the bamboo, that is not true. While it is true that pandas are losing habitat, that is due to development in china. The bamboo you buy in stores comes from nurseries, not the wild. But encourage your child in their concerns, turn to the internet to find the truth. A person with empathy for animals also has empathy for people!
well water cactus once a day a full cup and i dont think the bamboo thing is true
10 year old...nuff said. How wonderful it is to be young. But no pandas eat the shutes to live. LOL Water your catus they live in desserts for years and thrive on the water they store within. Watering them is like candy to them :)
1) cactus water once a month. 2)do not plant bamboo in your yard, it will take over, everything including neighbors yard it has nothing to do with pandas that are losing bamboo due to people using the land to build on.
Water your cactus once a month in the summer and once every 6 weeks in the winter. Bamboo will sread like wild fire if you plant it and do not tend to it. Be careful if you are planting it outside. The small pots you buy for the house should be no problem.
Water you cacti at least once a week. And when the weather gets hotter you can water it about twice a week. Make sure the soil is dry to touch before watering. Over watering will cause your cacti to rot. Use a 15-30-15 plant food. and place it where it will get full sun .
the Pandas are endangered because of loss of habitat
mostly due to the fact that China needs more farm land
bamboo is grown commercially all over the world, so buying bamboo products has very little if anything to do with dying Pandas . . .
I have no idea about the cactus, but my guess would be that it depends on the size of the plant
