How are ways that I can get rid of bugs from my apartment w/o an exterminator?

Question:What are some good ways to get rid of, or de-attract bugs from my basement level apartment w/o the help of an exterminator. I hate the thought of killing them, but I don't see any other way. Does anyone have any good advice?

If it's a roach problem, you may need an exterminator, because roaches are difficult to kill on your own. You can use the Bombs (by raid). Just make sure you leave the apartment for at least 8 hours after bombing and take any pets with you. When you get back, you'll need to wash anything that was exposed to avoid ingesting contaminants.

Keeping the place clean, free of crumbs, and using ant traps also work...it just depends on the type of bugs you have. Boric acid is supposed to work too, but you shouldn't use it if you have pets or kids.
