Our fence is too short and we can see the neighbors...how can we make it higher without putting in a new one?

Question:A section, about 12 feet long of our old wood back yard fence is about a foot or two shorter than the rest. When we bought the house 2 months ago, it was like that. Any ideas on making it higher without spending a lot of money? I thought of attaching some lattice to the top but I'm sure it will look cheesy so scrapped that idea.

We have a lot of plants and that area of the yard gets a lot of sun. That area of the fence/property border has some good dirt below it.

We live in Central California. Thanks for any ideas you might have!

Congratulations on your new home. I don't think attaching lattice to the top will look cheesy if you grow some vines up the fence. It won't take long for the vines to grow. Check out this website for suggestions: http://www.californiagardens.com/lists/v...

I would plant some fast growing trees or bushes if you didn't want to do the lattice thing. However, I don't think it would be cheesy to do that. Just plant some pretty flowering vines so it'll look nice for them to from the other side.
