I need help on identifying some type of mound under my house. How can I tell what it is? It is light brown?

Question:and fatter at the bottom and kind of funnel's up to the top. I think the height is about 1 and a half feet tall. I was trying to fix my dryer hose that goes into my floor and vents under our house and it feel through. As I was fishing it out, I seen this thing under my house. I would like a web site to match it up if possible. I typed in termite mound on google and all I found was enormous mounds that were taller than people so I'm not sure if that is it or not. Any pest control people out there? Please help!!

Answers:
you better call a exterminator, it sounds like a termite mound, that way you aren't guessing

Yikes! That's creepy! Did you see a hole next to the mound? Gophers/Woodchucks can create a large mound when digging a tunnel; do you have these in your area? That's the only animal that I can think of that would leave a mound that large here in New England. It might help to know where you live; we can eliminate various critters that way. Good luck!!
