Help! We have an unidentified creature (bird or insenct) in our dryer vent - how can we get it out?

Question:There's noises coming from inside, and we know something is in there. Any ideas our good, and we already tried snaking a vaccuum in there from outside the house, but that was unsuccessful. Please help, and thank you!

Answers:
It's likely a bird. If so, it will fly out if/when you open the vent from the outside.

While it is gone, shine a flashlight into the vent and, if there are no eggs or chicks, take a bent clothes hanger or a longer wire if necessary (it should have the end bent in the shape of a paddle with duck tape covering the paddle part) and scoop out the nest with this. After this, screw a piece of wire mesh over the vent to prevent the bird from coming back.

If there are eggs or chicks inside, you have to be more careful, and use gloves to protect the chicks/eggs. Then, screw an anti-freeze bottle with one side carved out to the side of the wall right next to where the vent is. Put the nesting material in here and the mother bird will be able to find her young. Don't worry about people who say that mother birds won't touch babies who have 'human scent' on them. It's not true and is an old wives tale. Birds can't smell.

When the baby birds are old enough to fly away, take down the nest. You'll feel good about ridding a bird nest from your house, while saving a bird family!

try a trail of bird food and a sticky mouse trap near the end
Try to blow instead of sucking it.
trying sweet talking it.
