Can anyone tell me what kills bats? We have an old house that is full of them and we need to get rid of them.

How WE solved a bat problem:
My parents have an OLD house (late 1800's) that originally had built in wooden gutters. The void from the gutters is now under the eaves and was a favorite hangout of bats.

We found foam-in-a-can (aka self expanding foam) to be a solution. At dusk, watch where the bats are exiting the house. Then climb up and use the foam-in-a-can to fill in the void/crack/whatever. Do this for a few nights in a row and soon you'll have all the holes filled and the bats will have to hang elsewhere. DO NOT fill in the voids during the day as the bats will be trapped inside, that would not be good. This is kind of a flash light and ladder job.

As others have said, I would recommend keeping them around as they make for outstanding (free) pest control. You might look into building or buying some "bat houses" to give them a place nearby so they'll still be around to get rid of those bugs.
Remember: Bats laying eggs in your hair is an urban legend. Mosquitos carrying west nile virus isn't.

Would you rather have a bunch of bugs. Keep the bats.
I have never heard of a bat in someones house. Maybe you can shine a light on them to make them go away?
You actually don't need to kill them, just disorient them... watch where they leave from in the evening, and stuff the holes full of brillo pads soaked in ammonia. They return to where they smell their urine, and can't smell it past the ammonia, so they go sleep somewhere else.

They eat their weight in moths and mosquitos every night, let them go do the job mother nature intended, and spend the day somewhere else... :)
I think this would take a professional...You would have to close all enterances after dark while they are out if possible.....
Maybe you should be finding the source of how they are getting in? Even if there was a pair, how did they get in? Seriously you do not have to kill them. There are traps. As I said, won't help if you don't figure out how they got in.
bats cant stand the smell of mothballs.
the kind you put in closets and drawers.
not real mothballs.
its so hard to get bats to stick their heads between their little legs.
as you know bats communicate using ultrasonic waves, there are devises out then can 'produces' an ultasonic noise that drives the bats 'crazy' and forces them to leave.
heres a good place to start

Bats are one of the only rodents that you may want to keep, I will say that if you are dead set on getting rid of them, please dont kill them. If you have trees outside open your windows and set some bat bait, which you can by online or at some hardware stores. It makes the bats go to the bait, eat it and fall asleep . Then in the morning you close your windows and keep them out
