How do I get rid of these disgusting flour beetles?

Question:We have a big pantry and my mom is ... and doesn't want to empty it out so we can get rid of the beetle colonies one and for all and then spray the surfaces to kill the rest.

Whenever I think we get them under control, they pop up again. For instance, I have a box of individual packets of oatmeal. They've been there for a few months already. To prevent the beetles, I put it in a large ziplock bag. Some how they got in. And the same thing with other cereals. They also some how get into glass and plastic containers.

I know they get carried in from sources but I think it's highly unlikely that so many things we buy that have come from so many different stores would all be infected before they reach the house.

Answers:
Your pantry is most likely not cool enough. I keep my flour and certain cereals in the fridge during the spring and summer. Heat brings out the weevils in grains based products. They come from within and sealing the product will not prevent them from appearing.
