How do I get rid of the nightly slug parade on my banck porch, other than berr, but is pet friendly?

Go to the store and get a six pack of your favorite brew. Bury a cup, so that about a half inch of the rim is above grade. fill it half way with fresh beer in the evening. Drink the rest. Slugs love a fresh beer, will climb in and drown.
My cats will drink the beer also, but it doesn't seem to do them any harm.

I presume berr means beer. I don't know but I have a story about beer for slugs. A friend of mine was using this method and one day she looked out of her window and there was her cat staggering up the back path. Then he collapsed in a heap. She took him to the Vet thinking he had had a stroke and the Vet told her he was drunk.
Sorry I don't have an answer for you, I just had to respond because I laughed my a** off envisioning an actual parade of slugs with banners, floats, twirling batons and marching across your porch. lol

I've heard that salt kills them...what if you try running a layer of salt around your porch to ward them off. Don't know if it works, but at least it wouldn't harm other animals.

Added: LMAO that first answer cracked me up too! I'm so glad I clicked on this question, boy did I need a laugh! thanks
Salt, reacts with there body chemistry and they will turn into a bubbly lump
Have u tried salt? I have a problem from time 2 time. when I see em I pour salt on the ugly as* things kills them -won't hurt ur pets.Or u can go to Lowes and get those slug bait traps. more fun to dry em out !,,,NAW, I'm really not that mean, but hey it works and it's a hell of a lot cheaper.

Sprinkle salt around the edges of your porch and throw slug bait somewhere else in your yard, so they go there and die. You can also buy the containers with slug bait in it so the cats cannot get to it.
SALT! AAHAHA This is fun to do get some normal table salt and sprinkle it around where they like to do there parade and such and the next day look out there and ull have a buncha nasty gooey crap where they were :P and theyll all be dead and.. well.. dead :)
Try coffee grounds. Spread 'em out all around the area that they inhabit.
