How do I get rid of a wasp's nest?

Question:I've discovered a wasp's nest above my back door. I've contacted the council but the cost of getting rid of it is too high so I'm going to do it myself. Does anyone know how to do this?

Answers:
If it was in a tree or bush, I would reccomend carefully burning it. Since it's on your house, contact your local garden supply centers, they should be in your local yellow pages. They should be able to sell you a very strong wasp killer called Misty, it has a spray jet 20 feet long, and will kill them nearly instantly. Stand well away from the nest, with the wind at your back, and spray the nest untill they stop falling out of it. Go back the next day and repeat. After that, you can get a scraperblade on a long pole(like a broom handle) and scrape it off the house. They should never come back, and if they do, you know how to get rid of them now.

I believe there's an insecticide that you hook up to your hose and spray it that way - from a far distance. Home Depot may have it.
I have a ton of them in my eeves and what not. I just shoot them down with a high powered hose or knock them down with a broom and then boot scoot out of the area.
I remember I used to have one right above the front door. Me and my sister really wanted to get it down so we just grabbed anything we could. She had a swiffer in her hand lol and i was throwing shoes at it and constantly us running back and forth and it finally fell. Then we started to spray it with raid.
Many ways to deal with them - I found the easiest way was to get a black bin bag - cover the nest with it and cut it free from where it joins - allow it to fall into the bag and then seal and burn it. Do it at night whilst they are inactive.

Sprays and smoke are also a good way to get rid of these little buggers
Very carefully! You need to smoke out the Wasps to make them dissy then waring protective clothing very quickly remove nest and block up the holes. You will be left with very angry wasps for a few days but if ya not going to get the propper people to do it thats what ya get! Good luck!
think its best to go invornment health in to take a look
Buy a spray from Homebase or somewhere similar, only spray at night whilst most of the little stingers are in the nest and make sure all your windows are closed first then hot foot it indoors until morning - hopefully there will be no activity around the nest and you can get rid of it. Onlu good thing is that they don't seem to come back to same place next year!
You don't unless your on a suicide mission or want to end up in hospital with life threatening consequences.

IF the problem is in a public place, not on your property and if you have children, you have good cause to complain to the ENVIRONMENTAL department.

So you need to find out if the place where the nest is falls under "Communal" grounds and play on that fact.

All councils will instantly fob you off, if enough of you phone in and complain and threaten to go to the local papers over this issue they will often back down and do the job.
Flamethrower!
Call the local council, it normally costs about £30.00 or the Bee man can sometimes do It...look in Yellow pages for your local number. Good Luck
Simply buya can of wasp spray that has a stream that shoots 15 or 20 feet away..One like this, found at any diy place..looks like this link here..there are many brands that do this besides this one..this is just an example

i had the council remove one for me a few years ago and they burned it.
i would advise against doing it youself as it is very dangerous especially if it has got live bees in it have you tried the you could get stung and go into anyaphlactic shock which can kill you enviromental health departement
