The best Natural insect repelant.?

Question:What is good to get rid of ants naturally without chemicals. My father used a spray in front of the house and we still get ants. Is baking soda ok? What else is good that is natural?

Have you tried used coffee grounds? My dad used to use that and pour boiling water into the ant burrows.
