How do you stop IVY growing up your house please.?

Question:I'm finding it increasingly difficult to pull it away from the brickwork.

Answers:
Ivy has deep roots and your going to find the roots and dig it up. Some people think it looks nice up the wall but they sap up the moisture in the brickwork and cause holes.

Cut it off at the base
at the root source .dig up .cut all life line from the base , whats on the wall will die off ...and yes get rid of it , it does a lot of damage to the mortar...
Well you need to destroy the roots, I wouldn't pull on it to hard , you may dislodge some bricks . Getting it to stop growing is the first step. and as the vine begins to die it will come a part easier once it drys out.
Had it for years right over the outside of the house, only way to get rid of it for good is dig it out every last root. Birds will let you know their disapproval of loosing their kip for the night.
Spray the root area with Q20 or Flick easing fluid and leave It worked for us good luck
remove the ivy plant you fool- thats like saying how do i stop walking down the street naked-wear some clothes-some people!
