Whats the most economical way to keep my apartment kool?
Question:I work overnights and my roomie dont but I like to keep my apt cool but econimcal. Is it best to keep the A/C set on 78-80 all the time and let the fans in the house run or should I keep the A/C off till my roomie is home n needs it cool than turn it on? Thanx for any input! :)

You can try a couple things.
First, you can try opening some windows and doors on opposite sides of the apartment to create a cross-breeze, which should cool it down considerably. Keep the ac off and run a fan for even more airflow.
Second, if you live in an apartment where the sun isn't always shining in and warming it up, you can try keeping all the windows and doors shut to keep in the coolness, and run multiple fans to circulate the air.
Third, if you can't live without the ac, just run it for short periods of time and just bring the temperature of the apartment down a few degrees until it's bearable. Leaving it set to 78-80, can add a significant amount to your electricity bill and even if you're just lowering the temperature a few degrees, you can expect that you bill will see an increase.
Fans are your friend, and if you REALLY want air conditioning, without some of the electrical costs associated with it, you can try building this $30 air conditioner out of a large garbage can, some ice, water, and a couple parts from the home improvement store. The link is included... take a look. It's an awesome project; cheap and effective too.
I suggest you invite Billy De Williams over. He's so smooth,
your place will be cooler than the other side of the pillow, baby.
Its best to have the Ac on when your roomie is there!
So you arent cooling the house for no one.
Or if your Air conditioner has a timer put it on so the Ac turns on just before your roomie comes home and make sure there arent any windows open so you arent cooling the world
