Question:how much water should i give it and how often? does it need sunlight? should i take the gold ribbons off?

That is Lucky Bamboo - I think if you take the ribbons off the stalks will just fall over

i would say the gold ribbons keep it standing up. the way it looks i would say it doesn't need a lot of water, just a normal amount.
i have the same plant.i leave mine in water and change water once a weak.

u have your hands on the lovely bonsai plant.the name , i am not sure .
the smaller version of the bigger plants ..since these grow out , now u will have to mirror the various other important sources for the plant to survive indoors ...
light : these plants will require at least 2 - 3 hr of actual sunlight , coming in thru your window or so .
temperature : Try to maintain 65 to 70 degree Fahrenheit, which is normal .
