How do you grow Basil?
Question:Basil is one off my favourite herbs, it's smell reminds me off Italy. But...every time I buy one and try to re-plant it into a bigger pot, it never last long...!
Answers:
You should let it fill a pot before moving it to a bigger one.
And dont pick the leaves off it too often. Most herbs need to start out indoors for 6-8 weeks before they are sturdy enough to put outdoors.
Dont over water as this is a likely cause for it dying off. Keep it in a sunny well lit position that is not too dry or humid.
If you are buying those herb pots from the supermarket they won't survive. They are forced under artificial light. Try buying a pot from the garden centre. Basil is easy to grow from seed, once again a packet of seed won't cost more than £2 and will give you lots of seedlings.
Have fun.
